IUM Internationals 2021

Wow! Where to begin!

Last week I competed at IUM Internationals for the first time as Miss Illinois! It was one of the best expieriences of my life, and I am so grateful to have tried this system. The week included themed dinners with my sister queens, competing in spokesmodel, interviewing, attending parties, and so much more!

One thing I really loved about this system is it never felt like a competition. I feel as though as pageantry progresses it is so much more competitive. It truly was like “the good old days” of leaving it to the judges and enjoying the week instead of always being in competition mode.

My week started a little rough…. I always like to be transparent! I had chosen a hair and makeup team that didn’t align with my values and used language I advocate against. Thankfully MK makeup artistry took me in, made me feel my best, and was such a positive group of women to be around! They truly made my week 14675% better!!!

I loved interview, and it felt like my best yet with strong answers as to what I would do with the title and my dreams in life. I left feeling as though my voice spoke what the Lord has put on my heart.

The night before crowning, I decided to make a list of “wins” from the week to know that my success didn’t stem from a crown and sash but the moments throughout the week. It included making real friends, attending the parties & dinners, spending time with my parents (the main reason I love pageants), I prayed over and with women, ate amazing food, and created lots of content!

I ended up placing top 10 (woohoo) in a super competitive group of women, and was at the bottom of the age category, so I am super proud of myself!

If you’re looking for a system that cares about you, celebrates you, and creates a fun environment…you need to compete in IUM!

XOXO,
