New York Fashion Week - Sherri Hill
The year is 2015, Sherri Hill is debuting a new collection at New York Fashion Week. Two-piece
dresses galore, nude beaded bodices with colorful cocktail skirts, and the iconic pink and green
floral dress debuted. I had dreamt of wearing a Sherri Hill dress since the start of my pageantry
career. I watch as my instagram is filled with role models, emphasis on models, attending the
spectacular fashion event. I never dreamt that one day I'd get to sit in the chairs along the crisp
white runway and see it for myself.
Fast forward ten years and I find myself as the Face of Ashley Rene’s. Not to be cliche but I
truly had no idea I would be chosen for this award. In November 2024, I was on FaceTime with
my dad telling him not only that I won, but reading him the prize package, which included the
opportunity to attend Sherri Hill - New York Fashion Week. I couldn’t believe it. This was one of
those dreams that you have no idea how it is going to happen and just hoping one day things
would align to go.
I received my invitation while teaching my 7th grade class and was ecstatic. I quickly booked my
flights, hotel, and figured out what dress I wanted to wear. Before I knew it, I was off to New
York City. The day of the show I took an early flight to NYC and once in Manhattan, was able to
start the fun weekend with good food, some shopping, and of course, getting glam. The hair
was curled, eyelashes glued, and Diverse Style heels buckled on. The I AM Powerhouse girlies
met to take photos, content, and videos, and to say having my picture taken in front of the sign
was so special is an understatement. We walked the red carpet, met celebrities (shoutout
Bachelor Nation, Miss America, and more), sat close to the runway, and had the time of our
lives. Breathtaking beadwork, bold patterns, delicious bites, and loud music consumed the
evening and culminated into magic.
Sometimes when you have a dream so big come true it doesn’t always live up to your
expectations, HOWEVER, this dream was everything and more! I can’t thank Ashley Rene’s
enough for allowing me this opportunity and to represent their brand on such a large scale. This
will be one of the memories I look back on for years to come and brag to my future pageant
daughter about when she shops for her first Sherri Hill.
